Indiana University is offering free, online training in the administration of Naloxone/Narcan, the life-saving drug that is used to treat opioid overdoses.

How Your Help Can Save Lives

Opioid overdoses exact a tremendous cost in lives and place an incredible strain on our emergency services. Naloxone has been developed to counteract overdoses, but it must be administered quickly, something that is difficult for emergency responders to do in both rural urban areas.

Emergency services may take too long, but a nearby neighbor can arrive quickly.

Fortunately, a network of trained neighbors like you can get to an overdose much faster and administer naloxone to stop the overdose and save a life.

Eligibility to Participate

  • No medical or first-aid knowledge required! This training is appropriate for all adults.
  • To qualify you should be aged 18 or over and living in Boone, Hancock, Monroe, Dearborn, or Madison counties of Indiana.
  • The training is intended for people who are NOT emergency responders like paramedics, police, firefighters, or healthcare professionals.

How to Sign Up, Get Training, and Get your Naloxone Kit

  1. Click the sign-up button above.
  2. You will be asked to complete a consent form and a preliminary survey.
  3. We will then email you a link to the training, which is an online, self-paced module. It will take about 30 minutes to complete.
  4. After the training, we will email you a certificate of completion, another survey, and a $5 gift card. A second $5 gift card will be given after completing this survey.
  5. Finally, we will mail you a naloxone kit and ask you to sign up for the PulsePoint app so that you can be alerted to overdose events in your area.
